Junior Mission Trip 2022

Posted by: Isy

The class had a great last day at Long View Ranch. The juniors went to a camp to help clean up and digging up rocks. They had a blast zip-lining and had an amazing night of worship. They had a campfire and shared with each other and really bonded. You could see how close the class got from this trip and the class had a great time.

Freshmen Mission Trip 2022

Posted by: Peter, Peyton and Madison

We survived our first night at HEART with cats meowing, rooster crowing, and rain pouring! This morning the weather cleared and students had a variety of opportunities to engage in. One class did toilet, shower, and classroom cleaning, while others cooked a biscuit and gravy breakfast and then cleaned up.
After our delightful meal, my (Peter) group cleared an area of old trees and brush and removed an old fence to make way for a new pig pasture. We were also rewarded by getting to ride Beauford the water buffalo. My group (Peyton) enjoyed a prayer walk and spending time harvesting in the garden. I (Madison) had an interesting experience learning to work as a team in tight spaces. We also learned to trust each other doing a trust fall.  Overall, we really enjoyed learning how to trust our fellow classmates while we having fun at the same time.

Senior Mission Trip 2022

The seniors continued their stay in Texas by visiting the signature Canyon Lake and walking on top of the dam. Some were bold enough to run across the entire dam, fighting against the chilling winds, while others were even bolder and decided to jump into the lake’s freezing waters! For their final day, the seniors went to Six Flags, going on insane rides, some crazy enough to go on them twice or thrice, and even meeting familiar faces, such as Sylvester Pussycat!

The temperature is in the 40's!

Sophomore Mission Trip 2022

On Monday we spent the morning at Lake Area ministry helping them sort food, pack bags, organize their rooms, and giving the food to people. So that we could bless people with food, and that they may know about Jesus. After we got back we went and had a lake day where we went down the water slide, went tubing, and jumped on the trampoline. Last, we ended the day with chapel and singing worship by the fire.

Freshmen Mission Trip 2022

Posted by Peyton, Madi, and Peter

The Freshmen arrived safely to the HEART Institute this afternoon. After arrival, we were greeted with very warm temperatures!!! We had lunch the were divided into four groups A,B,C, &D. Then we went on different team expeditions to sort through the triumphs and challenges of living in a third world county. One group went to a classroom and learned about cross cultural issues, another helped clean an old tool shed, while others worked in gardening and animal care. One cool thing that we learned to trust our peers more as we did team building exercises. We also were reminded that we are really blessed to live in a first world county where we have all of our needs met and more. Looking forward to sharing more tomorrow!

My experience for today’s local mission trip was pretty fun. We had worship followed by a devotion. Then we headed out to the daycare center which was also fun. All the kids loved us there and loved playing with us. After that we went back to the school for lunch which was chick fil a. Then we went to Boca Helping Hands and helped pack meat and label stuff. So overall the first day was pretty good.

Senior Mission Trip 2022

It has been an exciting journey for the seniors in Texas, as they spend their days doing many activities in the Lone Star State, all the while experiencing the beauty of God’s handiwork firsthand! The students first scaled down a large hill, but it wasn’t by ordinary means; rather, it was by zip lining! The seniors went down nine different lines with little to no fear, despite going as fast as at most 30 mph and having to deal with blanketing fog and blustering winds! The students took a small respite by attending a church session that talked about not becoming hypocrites and instead be more Christ-like. The students then took a hike to another mountain, traversing across rocky terrain and observing the beautiful view once reaching the top, where they learned about perseverance and following the truth of the Gospel.

On Saturday, the sophomores worked very hard to make the camp look nice!

To start the day, the students were divided into 2 groups and competed in team bonding obstacle courses.  During our morning work time we painted fences, built a huge pile,
burning old wood and debris, and we worked really hard on digging a drainage ditch.  Later in the day, everyone got to enjoy the lake activities like water slides, trampoline, tubing, and canoeing. It was a great first full day at Lake Swan Camp!

The Junior class prepared for a day of fun and work. Some of us woke up bright and early to watch the sunset and play some card games. The class split up in 2 groups to clean a church and a high school. The class had a lot of free time today and most people took the time to relax after all their hard work. They ended off the night in worship, games, and having fun singing along and playing guitar.

Local Mission Trip 2022

Posted by: Isabella Henrique

Today, March 4, 2022, we had the Juniors, Seniors, and Sophomores on our trip. We started with praise and worship and Mr. Linton gave a devotional about staying true to ourselves and not getting distracted by the things of the world. After the message we departed to Florence Fuller where we once again took care of the kids. The Juniors and Seniors stayed with the kids we had yesterday and the Sophomores got to go on the other campus which had older kids. Once again everyone enjoyed their time and we bonded with the kids. After Lunch everyone was excited to do Beach cleanup we even went in. A family from up North even personally thanked Mrs. Pelletier saying how impressed they are that we are cleaning up the beach. The beach was full of bonding and thanks from people at the beach and overall the day was a success in multiple ways

In the morning a couple of people woke up and watched the sunrise from the cabin and witnessed the gorgeous creation of God. We all headed to breakfast for pancakes and sausages from which the boys and girls split up to do some ministry work. While the girls painted the dining hall cabin and rocking chairs, the boys stripped the shed of all the junk and trash laying inside and stripped the boards from the shed wall. When all was finished the class ended up playin gun games such as basketball and pool while others admired the gorgeous scenery. Today we will be playing paintball!!

The kids were so adorable and they were very interactive with us. They look up to us! When we were getting ready to leave they came over and gave us a hug, and as we were walking out the kids waved at us. They really enjoyed us being there and they hope that we will be back on Monday!...We will

Junior Mission Trip 2022

Posted by: The Junior Class

Today the Junior class woke up bright and early and got ready for the day. They hiked over to a river property to clean up an old general store from the 1950s. They pulled up floors, tore off walls, and cleaned up debris. Another group went over to an old house and sandpapered walls to get ready for painting. The class worked so hard and had a great night of worship and an epic game of man hunt. People were climbing in trees and stretching the "truth"
to each other to help their team.

Local Mission Trip 2022

Today, March 3, 2022, the Junior's and Senior's who chose to go on the local trip started the day off with some praise and worship. After gathering and singing with Victoria C. playing the guitar Bradley P. graced us with a message of "Happines
s". This message dealt with relatable circumstances to the students and taught us that we have to choose happiness. Once we prayed and got on board the bus, driven by Mr. Kincaid, we made our way to Florence Fuller to help out with the kids. The kids spanned from as young as a couple of months, which Victoria C., Palloma j., and Mrs. Pelletier took care of, to 5 years old, which Chesko F., Nichita B., and Heidi B. took care of. All the students felt compassion and love for the children who we were sad to leave, "All the kids were crying," said Mrs. Shaffer when Faith P., Valerie G., Victor O., and Jimmy V. left. After lunch, we finished our day at Veterans Park to pick up the trash and clean up the area where many enjoy spending their time in. When all of us finished cleaning up and exploring the park we relaxed on the playground and had great conversations. To finish off the day we prayed for important matters like the Ukraine situation and said our goodbyes.
